Beit Hamikdosh - Second Temple Program
There are many drawings available that show recreations of the Second Temple inJerusalem, and this project lends itself beautifully to a 3 dimensional reconstruction.Today the only remaining portion is the Kotel or the Western wall but this full recreation gives everyone the chance to see why the Temple was considered to be one of the wonders of the ancient world. The model is built on a 15 foot by 25 foot drawing showing all of the rooms from the Holy of Holies, to the dozens of other rooms. The history is covered from the vision of King David, the actual construction by King Solomon, to the improvements of King Herod. The discussion and the construction are a great learning experience especially when it is coordinated with the study of the Temple by the children prior to the LEGO program. Small reproducible drawings are furnished to the school weeks prior to the presentation so that teachers can instruct the students on the elements of the Temple.
Of course the destruction of the Temple by the Romans is also discussed. At the end of the program there is a great opportunity for questions and answers using the huge model as a teaching tool.
