Masada

Masada Projects

The challenge of this project is to present the heroic stand of the 900 Jews who defended themselves from the Roman Legions. On the 15 foot by 20 foot drawing the participants build the perimeter walls of Masada and many of the rooms and buildings within these walls. The Synagogue, mikvah, Herod’s Palace, storerooms, apartments, and other important elements are all described. This is a very personal experience for the Architect Stephen Schwartz, because he actually worked on the archeological dig in 1963 under the famed Israeli Archaeologist Yigal Yadin. Participants will see the souvenir coin and the volunteer credentials given to all of the participants on the dig.
